The Press Gang aims to encourage interaction between the School of Biological Sciences and the general public.
We are a group of researchers from across the University of Edinburgh's School of Biological Sciences who work closely with other researchers and the University Press Office.
We help to identify and promote the communication of scientific breakthroughs and discoveries that are of interest to the public. In particular we aim to help local and national news media to report on our research.
Our work focuses on helping researchers within the School to communicate their science, but we are happy to receive enquiries from members of the public and the media, as well as from schools and other educational or community organisations.
Since the Press Gang was started in 2002, the number of press releases related to research within the School of Biological Sciences which were covered in the media has risen from an average of 2-3 a year to more than 15 a year.
